Your data
Privacy policy
Effective July 2026
This policy explains what information Hide & Thread collects when you visit, how we use it, and the choices you have. Hide & Thread is a static content site about leather wallets and everyday-carry goods — we are not a store, we do not take payments, and we do not run accounts or logins. It is written to be read, not to bury you.
What we collect
- Messages you send us. If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you provide so we can reply. The form does not store anything in a database on our site; it is delivered straight to our inbox by email and kept only as long as needed to handle your query.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which pages are read and how people find us — page views, rough geographic region, device and browser type, and referring source. IP addresses are anonymized by GA4, and we look at this data in aggregate rather than as a profile of any individual.
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our host records standard technical logs — such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested — for security and reliability. We do not use these to identify you.
Cookies
Two kinds of cookies are relevant here. First, Google Analytics sets analytics cookies to measure traffic in aggregate. Second, when you click a link through to Amazon, Amazon sets its own affiliate cookie so that any purchase can be credited to us — that cookie is set by Amazon, on Amazon, under Amazon's terms, and it is how affiliate click tracking works. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of our own, and we do not run third-party ad networks.
How we use the data
Only for the obvious reasons: to reply to your messages, to understand and improve what we publish, and to keep the site secure and working. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone, and we do not share it except with the service providers named below who process it on our behalf.
Third parties
Three providers touch data in the normal running of this site. Google processes site analytics through GA4. Amazon runs the Associates affiliate program and sets the affiliate cookie described above when you follow a product link. Microsoft delivers our contact form to our inbox through its email service (Microsoft Graph) — the message you send travels to us and no further. Each of these companies has its own privacy policy governing what it does with data, and we would encourage you to read them.
Affiliate links and Amazon
Hide & Threadis a participant in the Amazon Associates program. When you click a product link and go on to buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and Amazon's cookie records that referral. The full explanation is in our affiliate disclosure. Once you land on Amazon, Amazon's own privacy policy — not ours — governs what happens there.
Your choices
You are in control of the cookies. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's official opt-out browser add-on. Blocking analytics cookies does not break the site. If you would like to ask what data we hold from a message you sent, or ask us to delete it, email us at info@hideandthread.com and we will help.
Children's privacy
Hide & Thread is a general-interest site about wallets and everyday carry and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes; the version posted here is always the current one, and the effective date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
